Christmas Lights
Chrismas Light Shows, Equipment, Software and Projects
This is a new page and will develope as I add new content and eventually figure out what I want it to become. There will also
be links to other Christmas light related pages from this page.
For Christmas 2023 I completed a few projects that will show up on this page as time allows -
* Added color 'pixel' elements to the show for the first time.
* Modified eight old K-Mart white fold-up wire trees by adding new RGB pixel string (254 pixels) to each. They worked great!
* Built 8 weatherproof wifi controllers for the above pixel trees. Learned how to use some tiny microcontrollers in the process.
* Added a pixel megatree, 12 strings of 50 bullet pixels each. This added some striking color effects to the show.
* A failed attempt to get a cheap Chinese 12-channel AC dimmer controller to work. I'll need to dig into microcode to fix it.
* Built up a more powerful show computer - needed more speed to run the pixel part of the show.
* Added ethernet and WIFI for the first time to the show - can't run pixels with the AC dimmer controllers!

These are not by any means professional quality videos and have noisy audio but not too aweful... :)
Just me mostly standing across the street with my video camera and an FM receiver plugged into the mic input of the camera.
