Laser Show History
Just a little bit of background and history of laser shows
A brief history of the laser show
This page is intended to provide the reader with (my best attempt at) an understanding of where laser shows came from. Rather
than attempt a complete repeat of all that I've read, I decided to just provide a series of links to other sites that, all together,
present a pretty complete combined history of the origin the laser light show as well as some history of the rise (and unfortunately
the fall) of laser show popularity. There seems to be a resurgence lately, as I have seen several temporary shows at various
venues pop up here and there, but nothing permanent except at the home of Laserium at their studio in Van Nuys.
LASERIUM
Laserium was a dream beginning to take form in 1970 by an already (laser light) captivated Ivan Dryer, who conceived of the
idea after seeing a live public laser demonstration. There was no music, but seeing the "light show" got him thinking in the right
direction and the rest is history!
Just about everything else...
There is a website that I have visited so many time I can't count... Laser FX. This website has so much about lasers, laser shows,
laser hardware, the laser business in general, and yes, laser history. This has been my go-to laser show website for many years.
